Motorcyclist killed in six-vehicle collision

MARANG: A motorcyclist was killed, and two others were injured in a six-vehicle collision on Km23 of the Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan Road, near Kampung Kelulut, last night.

The accident, which occurred at 8pm, resulted in the death of Abdul Salim Mohamed Hashim, 58, who was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Ts Mohd Razman Setapa said that the incident involved two Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycles, two Perodua Myvi cars, a Proton Saga, and a Toyota Hilux four-wheel drive vehicle.

Initial investigations indicate that the Toyota Hilux, parked at a roadside eatery, reversed to exit. At the same time, a Proton Saga travelling from Dungun to Kuala Terengganu was unable to avoid the Hilux and crashed into its rear.

The collision caused the Proton Saga to skid into the opposite lane, where it struck the two Yamaha motorcycles and two Perodua Myvi cars heading from Kuala Terengganu to Kuantan.
