JASIN: A woman died while her husband is injured after their car is believed to have lost control and crashed into a tree on KM10 of Jalan Gapam-Bemban here this morning.
In the incident around 8.30am, Nur Ayuni Raman died at the scene, while her husband, Bustaman Ismail, suffered a broken leg and internal bleeding.
Jasin district police chief Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Jamil Radzi said they received a report of the accident at 9.55am.
He said preliminary investigations found that the couple, both aged 29, were on their way to Ayer Keroh.
"The accident occurred when the car driven by Bustaman is believed to have lost control upon reaching a bend on the Jalan Gapam-Bemban and skidded off before crashing into a tree on the roadside.
"The driver, who injured his abdomen and leg, was taken to Melaka Hospital for further treatment.
"His wife, a housewife, was confirmed dead at the scene due to head injuries, according to medical personnel," he said in a statement today.
Ahmad Jamil said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
