Perlis opens two more flood relief centres

KANGAR: Two additional temporary flood relief centres (PPS) have been opened in Perlis, bringing the total number of flood victims evacuated to 152 individuals from 48 families as of 9am today.

The newly opened relief centres are located at SK Dato Ahmad Musa in Kangar and SK Kubang Gajah in Arau.

State Civil Defence Force director Mohd Izaimi Md Daud said the relief centre at SK Dato Ahmad Musa is sheltering 47 flood victims from 14 families from Sungai Padang, Simpang Empat.

"Meanwhile, SK Kubang Gajah in Arau is housing 42 victims from 13 families after their homes were inundated following heavy rain in the state.

"The flood relief centres at SK Arau and SK Sena have not recorded any increase in victims, with the numbers remaining at 33 and 30, respectively," he said when contacted today.

Meanwhile, the Public Infobanjir website reported that the water level at Timah Tasoh Dam remains at the alert level, with the current reading at 29.49 metres compared to the normal level of 29.10m.
