PONTIAN: A man was killed when a truck carrying ice crushed him at the Kukup Laut Jetty earlier this morning.
Pontian district police chief Superintendent Mohammad Shofee Tayib said they received an emergency call at 7.15am reporting that the 64-year-old man was flattened by the truck while unloading ice at the location.
"The incident occurred when the concrete floor suddenly collapsed, causing the truck to overturn and crush the victim.
"The victim died at the scene, and no foul play is suspected," he said.
The victim's body was sent to Pontian Hospital for a post-mortem, and the case has been classified as sudden death.
He also urged anyone with information to contact the case's investigating officer, Sergeant Shahibul Hamdi Derama, at 018-2714199.
The operation to recover the victim's body was carried out by a team from the Pontian Baru Fire and Rescue Station, with the operation concluding at 9.21am.
