United Sabahans' voice essential for MA63 implementation, says Shafie

KIMANIS: Parti Warisan has called on Sabahans to unite in their voting choices to effectively tackle the state's long-standing issues.

Speaking at his Jelajah DSSA Santuni Rakyat event in the Kimanis parliamentary constituency and Membakut state constituency, party president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said that the power to shape the future government rests in the hands of the people.

"Don't blame Kuala Lumpur or others. Our votes determine who forms the government," Shafie said, highlighting that a united voice from Sabah is essential to push for the resolution of key issues, particularly the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

"This time, if we want our MA63 demands, water issues, health problems, and education challenges in Sabah to be addressed, the voice of Sabahans must be united and not divided," he added, cautioning against political fragmentation that could allow smaller parties to gain unexpected influence.

The former Chief Minister also expressed concern over the political instability caused by party-hopping, a trend especially prevalent in Sabah's political scene.

"This contributes to the instability of our politics, particularly in Sabah, which is known for party-switching," he said.

While advocating for cooperation with the federal government, Shafie also said that Sabah's resources must remain under local control.

"Sabah's resources must be managed by Sabahans and the Sabah government," he said.
