Floodwaters recede in Kedah, some flood victims allowed home

ALOR STAR: The number of flood victims in Kedah dropped to 7,525 individuals from 2,442 families sheltered in 36 temporary flood relief centres (PPS) as of 3.30pm today.

This follows the closure of a PPS in Bandar Baharu after 119 people from 26 families were allowed to return home as floodwaters continued to recede.

According to the Social Welfare Department's Disaster Information mobile application, the number of victims has decreased from the 7,674 people from 2,478 families reported at noon.

Kota Setar recorded a reduction in flood victims, with 5,212 people from 1,719 families sheltered in 19 centres, down from 5,235 individuals from 1,727 families earlier.

The number of victims in Pokok Sena has also decreased to 88 people from 39 families, compared to 95 people from 41 families earlier.

In Pendang, 1,604 victims from 488 families remain in 10 relief centres, unchanged from midday.

Similarly in Kubang Pasu, the figure remains stable at 621 victims from 196 families.

The Public Infobanjir portal shows that only Sungai Anak Bukit in Kota Setar is above the danger level, as of 3pm
