All flood victims in Pahang allowed to return home today

KUANTAN: The flood situation in Pahang has fully recovered after the remaining 1,849 people from 590 families in three districts will be allowed home today.

A state Civil Defence Force spokesman said 20 temporary relief centres (PPS) in Raub were closed at 1pm after the remaining 1,865 evacuees from 592 families returned home in stages today.

"Floods hit Raub on Dec 1 and after three days, the situation has returned to normal and the victims have been allowed home. The last PPS in Jerantut at SK Teh was closed around noon today (Dec 3) after the remaining 13 victims went home.

"The Kampung Lentang PPS in Lipis will be closed later today once the remaining 13 victims from four families complete cleaning their homes," he said in a statement.

He said the department would continue to monitor the situation, including river water levels, to ensure that villagers living in low-lying areas are prepared to move in case of floods.

Raub, Lipis and Jerantut were struck by the second wave of the northeast monsoon floods on Dec 1.
