Mahkota by-election: Voter turnout reached 47 per cent as of 4pm [WATCH]

KLUANG: A total of 47.16 per cent of eligible ordinary voters had cast their ballots for the Mahkota state seat by-election as of 4pm today, the Election Commission said.

The EC added that this would be the final voter turnout update for the day.

The commission said it will issue the final voter turnout percentage when the by-election results are announced later tonight.

It was previously reported that a total of 61,274 eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots during the polling day for the by-election today.

The by-election witnessed a straight fight between Barisan Nasional candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah and Mohamad Haizan Jaafar of Perikatan Nasional.
