Murder victim's daughter pines for him

BALING: "Every long school holiday, I'd return to home to be with my father, and every time I cooked, I made a video of it," said Nur Aina Sofiya Sabari, 28, daughter of murder victim Sabari Baharom, 62, today.

"But he's no longer here. Now I play back those videos and hear him reciting the Quran. I miss him dearly."

Nur Aina, a teacher in Sarawak, said she rushed back as soon as she learnt about her father being thrown into Sungai Padang Terap in Kampung Empa, Jalan Wang Tepus, Jitra.

"The last time I spoke with him was when I was in Sarawak on Sept 2, and he told me he had just finished cooking 'pajeri nanas,'" Aina said at her home in Kampung Mengkuang Tengah, Kuala Pegang.

Aina said her father would tell her about his activities at the mosque and what he did.

"But now that he's gone, I feel lonely because he pampered me a lot.

"I hope that those involved are punished."

Her eldest sister, Suraiya Izzati, 29, said when she now went to her father's house, she felt empty.

"However, we are grateful that my father got to see his two grandchildren."
