Parking shortage at HRPB, police to exercise discretion on summonses

IPOH: Despite having a multi-storey car park at the new building of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, parking shortages persist at the main hospital.

In response, the district police have decided not to issue summonses to road users unless specific rules are violated.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad stated that the police, along with state health committee chairman A. Sivanesan and HRPB deputy director Dr Mustafa Shawal Safian, conducted an inspection at Jalan Raja Ashman Shah, in front of the hospital, to address the parking issue yesterday.

"This issue arises due to the very limited parking space currently available at HRPB, as well as traffic congestion caused by blocked routes resulting from the large number of vehicles parked in front of the hospital.

"Consequently, the district police, exercising their discretionary authority, will not enforce fines on any vehicles parked along Jalan Raja Ashman Shah in both directions.

"However, fines will be issued for vehicles parked in front of the bus stop, double-parked vehicles, and those parked at the roundabout on Jalan Raja Ashman Shah," he said in a statement last night.

He added that all road users are advised to cooperate with the police and always comply with traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of all road users and maintain smooth traffic flow in the area.
