Police receive 12 bullying reports involving Tam Spider's son, others [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have received 12 reports over bullying claims at a boarding school here.

One of the victims is the son of rock group Spider band member, Rustam Mustafah , known as Tam.

City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said reports were lodged by students as well as the parents of students who were bullied.

"Based on our investigatioms so far, the victims are all students aged between 14 and 16 while the bullies are all aged 17.

"Three investigation papers (IP) have been opened under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt," he told reporters today.

He said two of the IPs had been refered to the deputy public prosecutor recently and were handed back to the police for further updating.

"The third investigation paper is in the midst of being compiled and the investigation process will take time as some of the students involved will be sitting for their trial Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examinations.

"The school has asked us to postpone the record-taking process so that we do not disturb them."

Rusdi added a school warden was among the suspects being investigated.

"We have already questioned this individual.

"We expect to record statements from several students who are the alleged bullies on Oct 13 and Oct 14."

He said based on reports so far, victims suffered injuries to their ears and bruises to their arms and legs.

Rusdi said they believed the alleged bullies did not use any weapon.

"We take this matter seriously and have no intention for such issues to drag on for long. We will take the necessary action," he said.

It was reported that police launched an investigation into a bullying case involving the son of rock group Spider band member, Rustam Mustafah (Tam), and other students.

Five police reports had been lodged in connection with the case as of Oct 5.

Tam, 51, recently revealed that his 14-year-old son had been a victim of bullying at a boarding school here.

He expressed disappointment with the school's lack of awareness and failure to take action against the bullying problem.

Following Tam's revelation, several other parents from the same school came forward with similar accounts.
