Police record statements from 15 including main suspect in new UPNM assault case

KUALA LUMPUR: The main suspect in the latest bullying case at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) has completed giving his statement at the Cheras police headquarters here this morning.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa told Buletin TV3 that 15 people, including the 19-year-old victim, have had their statements recorded.

"Today, the suspect's statement was taken, along with five other witnesses," he said.

Earlier, the suspect was spotted arriving at the Cheras district police headquarters at around 9.30am.

The process lasted for about five hours before the vehicle transporting the suspect was seen leaving the premises at 2.30pm.

It was reported earlier that a first-year student at UPNM suffered fractures to his ribs and spine, injuries reportedly inflicted by a senior student who had stomped on him.

The incident is believed to have taken place on Oct 21, a day before another student at the same university sustained burns allegedly after being pressed with a hot iron by senior students.
