KOTA BARU: A 13-year-old boy is believed to have drowned while bathing in an irrigation canal at Kampung Pangkal Kalong, Ketereh today (Oct 9).
Ketereh Fire and Rescue operation commander Hamdam Mamat said 15 firemen were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 5.09pm.
He said in a statement the firemen arrived at the scene at 5.24pm and immediately mounted a search.
As of 7.30pm, Hamdam said the team had yet to locate the boy.
The operation, he said, was also joined by the police and several villagers.
