SUNGAI BULOH: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) will allocate RM10,000 from its emergency assistance fund to each student affected by the tragic accident near its Dungun campus.

In a statement, the UiTM Corporate Communications division said that RM3,000 would be provided in cash to the next of kin, while the remaining RM7,000 would be transferred directly to their bank accounts.

Additionally, RM450 will be allocated for funeral management assistance and RM800 for vehicle services related to the funerals.

The university is also providing accommodation for the next of kin at the UiTM Dungun Hotel and food donations from NGOs and individuals for the victims' relatives.

"Counselling services will be available to families throughout their stay in Dungun, with additional support from counsellors in their hometowns if needed," the statement read.

Funeral prayers were held at the UiTM Dungun Campus Mosque, and recitations of tahlil and yassin were conducted in all mosques across the Dungun district.

Yesterday, three UiTM Dungun students lost their lives, and another sustained severe injuries when a Honda CRV SUV, driven by a woman, collided with their two motorcycles at 7.20pm.

Their injured friend, Mohd Ammar Danish Mohd Rodhuan, 20, is currently receiving treatment at Dungun Hospital and will be transferred to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu for further care.

Khairil Anuar's remains are expected to be laid to rest at the Ukay Perdana Islamic Cemetery, while Mohd Akhmal will be buried in Muar, Johor.
