UiTM student Muhammad Akmal's funeral draws hundreds of grieving hearts

MUAR: Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin, one of three UiTM Dungun students tragically killed in an accident last night, was laid to rest today at the Kampung Parit Baru Islamic cemetery in Batu 18.

His remains arrived at his family home in Muar from Dungun, Terengganu, at 4.20pm, where a funeral prayer was held before he was taken to the burial site.

The emotional ceremony was attended by over 200 people, including family, friends, and villagers.

The atmosphere was heavy with grief, as family members wept while saying their final goodbyes.

Md Tukirin Saringat, 60, Muhammad Akmal's father, was visibly heartbroken as he watched his son's coffin being lowered into the grave, frequently wiping away tears in an effort to contain his sorrow.

In a poignant moment, Muhammad Akmal's younger brother, Muhammad Faiq Syahmi, 18, had the honour of reciting the "talkin" (final rites), his voice breaking with emotion as he struggled to hold back tears.

Muhammad Akmal, along with two of his friends, Ku Adib Aizad Ku Azmi, 20, and Khairil Anuar Jamaluddin, 20, both accounting students, lost their lives when a woman in a sports utility vehicle crashed into their motorcycles near their campus in Kampung Sura Hujung at 7.20pm yesterday.

Another friend, Mohd Ammar Danish Mohd Rodhuan, 20, is currently receiving treatment for severe injuries at Hospital Dungun and will be transferred to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah in Kuala Terengganu for further care.
