ISKANDAR PUTERI: An air quality test conducted at the Southern Industrial Logistics Clusters (SILC) industrial area sites, which caught fire this morning, detected no traces of air chemical pollution.
Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the state's Environment Department (DoE) officers tested the air quality at the site.
Four factory lots were extensively damaged, while three Bangladeshi workers sustained first degree burns when the fire broke out at 11.30am.
Ling said the DoE conducted air quality tests at the factory sites and nearby areas, including the Taman Bukit Indah housing estate 2km away.
He added that the factory had stored industrial materials, which sparked public concerns about potential air contamination, as well as fears that black rain in the area could pose further hazards.
However, based on tests conducted, there are no chemical pollutants in the air.
He said the Fire and Rescue Department brought the fire under control at 3.15pm.
As a precautionary measure, a team would remain at the site to ensure that no residual flames could reignite.
He added that the DoE will continue to monitor the air and water quality at the affected areas and within a 2km radius.
