Masseuse arrested for abandoning her children for two days

KUALA LUMPUR: A masseuse has been arrested for abandoning her children at a house in Taman Kosas, Ampang.

Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said they received a public tipoff on Oct 7 that two children, aged one year and a month, and six, had been left alone at a house for a long time.

"We immediately went to the house and rescued both boys and took them to the Ampang Hospital for medical checks.

"The medical checks revealed multiple scars, both old and new all over the children's bodies," he said in a statement today.

He said both children were still receiving medical treatment at the hospital.

"Following further investigations, police arrested a 41-year-old woman who works as a masseuse in Pudu on Oct 9.

"The woman is the children's mother and has one prior crime record," he said, adding that investigations revealed the children were left alone for two days.

He said the woman has been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations.

"We have classified the case under Section 31(1) and Section 33 of the Child Act for abuse and abandonment of children," he said.

Those with information on the case should contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or go to the nearest police station.
