PUTRAJAYA: Fahmi Fadzil has expressed his condolences on the passing of the late former deputy communications and multimedia minister, Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith.

The communications minister said Eddin was a friend, despite being from a different political party.

"Datuk Eddin contributed greatly to the country. He served in four different ministries from 2018 to 2020 and was even here in the Communications Ministry.

"I am deeply affected by his passing. He was also the MP in my hometown, Kuala Pilah," he said during his speech at the Communications Ministry's monthly assembly here today.

Eddin died at 7.10am today at his home in Bukit Chedang, Seremban. His death was confirmed by Negri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional chairman Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker.

Eddin Syazlee, 50, was a former member of parliament for Kuala Pilah. He had served multiple portfolios in the federal administration, including as deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law), deputy works minister and deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economic Affairs).

Hanifah said that the health of the PN state adviser began to decline five months ago, and he had received follow-up treatment at a private hospital.
