JOHOR BARU: The Johor state government is actively addressing the critical state of the Gelang Patah health clinic and implementing short-term solutions to alleviate current congestion.
In a Facebook post yesterday, Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi expressed his disappointment over the clinic's conditions.
"I feel very sad and disappointed to see the extremely dilapidated condition of the Gelang Patah health clinic," he stated.
Onn Hafiz highlighted significant challenges faced by the clinic, including overcrowded spaces and ageing facilities, such as broken chairs, fans, and air conditioning units in the waiting area.
Additionally, there is a lack of organised parking and essential medical equipment, like ultrasound machines and computers.
The clinic serves an average of over 800 visitors daily but struggles to accommodate nearly 100,000 residents in the Iskandar Puteri area.
"The overcrowded conditions present a significant challenge here," he noted.
Onn Hafiz said there have been calls for a new health clinic to serve the Iskandar Puteri area.
"The state government will do everything possible to resolve this issue," he assured.
He acknowledged that there was much to be done to improve the quality and condition of healthcare facilities in Johor.
However, I believe that with cooperation, effort, and support from all parties, everything that is planned can be realised."
