Traffic jam on NKVE after 3 vehicles catch fire following collision

KUALA LUMPUR: Three vehicles caught fire following a collision on the New Klang Valley Expressway.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the department received a distress call about the accident at 3.52pm today.

"We were told that the incident occurred at Km4.4 of the highway.

"Four personnel from the Bukit Jelutong Fire Station, led by operations commander Mohd Khairul Mat Yassin, responded to the call," he said when contacted.

He said the accident involved three vehicles, two of which were engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, while a four-wheel drive was partially on fire.

"Efforts to put out the fire are underway. No one was injured in the incident."

Images of the burning vehicles have begun circulating on social media and WhatsApp.

The incident caused a huge traffic jam on the highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur as the burning vehicles took up the middle and right lanes.
