PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia joins 192 other member states of the United Nations to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the establishment of the world body.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry highlighted Malaysia's enduring commitment to multilateralism and the principles enshrined in the UN Charter since its admission to the UN on Sept 17, 1957.
It also reflects on the shared goals of peace and security, human rights, and sustainable development, adding that these pillars of the UN have provided the framework to address global challenges and foster cooperation among nations.
"On this memorable occasion, Malaysia reiterates her resolve and commitment to the same," said the statement.
Looking ahead, Malaysia is eager to enhancing cooperation between Asean and the UN, particularly during its chairmanship in 2025, added the statement.
"Through collaboration with the UN and other international partners, Malaysia will continue to undertake efforts to promote a just, prosperous and equitable world for a better future for all. Happy United Nations Day," it said.
United Nations Day is observed annually on Oct 24.
