N9 hotels with pools, beachfronts must have lifeguards from 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: Hotel operators in Negeri Sembilan with swimming pools or beachfronts must have lifeguards starting next year.

Negeri Sembilan Tourism, Arts and Culture Action Committee chairman Nicole Tan said this was part of preparations for Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026 (TMNS 2026)

According to Kosmo!, Tan said the measure is also aimed at improving tourist confidence for the first TMNS in 25 years.

She said the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry has ordered all states to organised water safety courses.

The courses will be facilitated by the Fire and Rescue Department for the benefit of hotels and their employees. All participants will receive a certificate.

She was speaking after attending a Water Confidence and Rescue Techniques training programme in Port Dickson.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan Malaysia Association of Hotels chairman Haziz Hassan said 90 per cent of its member hotels in the state with swimming pools and beachfronts have staff certified in water safety.
