SUNGAI BULOH: A warehouse storing batteries, tires, and golf carts at Taman Perindustrian KIP here was almost completely razed by an early morning fire.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said they received a distress call at around 12.54am today.
"A total of 47 personnel from Sungai Buloh, Selayang, Bukit Jelutong, Damansara, Rawang, Petaling Jaya, TTDI and Manjalara fire stations responded to the call.
"The first responders arrived at the scene at Jalan IDA 1, Taman Perindustrian KIP, here around 1.13am and began operations to put out the fire," he said when contacted today.
He said they managed to control the fire by 2.07am.
"Our checks showed the warehouse stored batteries, tires and golf carts.
"The building was almost completely destroyed," he said adding that six fire engines, four water tankers, one aerial ladder platform, two emergency medical rescue services vehicles and a breathing apparatus tender vehicle.
Wan Md Razali said they were currently conducting an overhaul at the scene.
"The fire caused the building roof to collapse on the burning tires. The operations commander has requested for an excavator to help in the operations," he said adding that they were now focusing their efforts on putting out the fire involving the burning tires and batteries.
He said the process was challenging because the burning tires and batteries were under the collapsed roof and pillars.
