KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) patrol vessel docked in Kuala Baram, Sarawak, caught fire last night.
No one was injured in the incident which happened on board the "KM Stapa" vessel.
According to Borneo Post, the Lutong Fire and Rescue station received a distress call at 11.35pm about the fire.
Lutong Fire and Rescue Station chief Henry Jugah said the vessel was under maintenance.
Henry said by the time firefighters arrived at the vessel, which was some 11km away from the station, some 40 per cent of the ship had been damaged by the fire.
Firefighters had to use two 400-foot-long hoses to extinguish the fire which took over an hour.
The source of the fire and estimated damages are still under investigation.
