Mas Ermieyati re-elected Masjid Tanah Bersatu chief

MELAKA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia women's wing chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin was re-elected Masjid Tanah division chief yesterday.

Mas Ermieyati, who is Masjid Tanah member of parliament and Public Accounts Committee chairman, received 150 votes to beat former division permanent chairman Rosni Sham Samion, who received four votes.

Deputy division chief Nazri Ramli also kept his position, obtaining 133 votes to beat Abdul Rashid Tang Abdullah, who received no votes.

For the division vice-chief's position, Roslan Jonet garnered 90 votes to beat Baharidin Saleh (five votes), Muhammad Ali Hanafiah Jaamat (56 votes) and Mohd Rozaimi Mhd Zaini (12 votes).

The Melaka Bersatu election committee announced the results today for four of the six divisions that convened a meeting.

Former Melaka chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik was elected Alor Gajah division chief. He obtained 105 votes to beat Mohd Zamri Abu Bakar, who received 56 votes.

Rozaini Salim was elected deputy division chief with 92 votes, beating Nazri Abu Kasim's 68 votes.

The division vice-chief's position went to Baharom Jamil. He garnered 102 votes, beating Saifullizan Abu, who obtained 59 votes.

In the Tangga Batu division, former TV3 cameraman Mohd Hanafiah Hamzah failed his bid to be elected division chief, losing to Ramlan Meon by 48 votes.

Hanafiah also competed for the deputy permanent chairman position, but got only 26 votes, losing to the incumbent, who received 74 votes.

Hasrul Hassan won the deputy division chief's position unopposed.

For the division vice-chief's position, Sungai Udang assemblyman Dr Mohd Aleef Yusof got only 27 votes, losing to Haizam Jaafar's 73 votes.

In Hang Tuah Jaya, division chief Mohd Azruddin Md Idrus defended the post unopposed.

The deputy division chief is Jaffri Ibrahim. He got 110 votes, beating Md Firdaus Mashor, who received 64 votes.

Former Bukit Katil member of parliament Datuk Dr Mohd Ruddin Abd Ghani lost his bid for the division vice-chief's position as he got only 29 votes. Ahmad Hezri Sardi got 130 votes and Rozaini Kamis got 16 votes.

Former Pengkalan Batu assemblyman Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee failed to become a committee member of the Hang Tuah Jaya division.

He secured 97 votes, placing him in 11th place. There are only 10 spots.

Mas Ermieyati thanked party members for trusting her to continue leading the Masjid Tanah division.

She said her team would empower the division's committee and bureau to strengthen the party, particularly at the grassroots level.

She said she planned to open new branches and activate existing ones.

"The Masjid Tanah division will work with the state liaison body to prepare for the state election."

Bersatu suspended the Kota Melaka and Hulu Langat divisions on Nov 1 before the party's Supreme Council and vice-presidential elections on Nov 2.

Two of the ten suspended divisions were allowed to hold conferences and leadership elections in December.
