Man attacked by group thanks Tengku Mahkota of Pahang for support

KUANTAN: A former construction worker, allegedly attacked by a member of the Pahang royal family and other men, has expressed gratitude to the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang.

Five men were charged at the magistrate's court here today with assaulting Alias Awang, 44, using a knife on June 6.

Alias, who is now unemployed, said he was grateful to Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for leading calls to demand the truth since news of the incident was reported in the media.

"I want to thank TMP (Tengku Mahkota Pahang) for seeking justice for me. Since the case is in court, let the law decide."

After news of the alleged assault made headlines several months ago, Tengku Hassanal called for transparency in the probe.

On Oct 19, Tengku Hassanal wrote on Instagram: "He is one of my people. Give him justice now," referring to the incident.

On Sept 5, Tengku Hassanal said he took a serious stance on the news on social media linking a member of the royal family to the incident. He said that no one is above the law.
