Woman killed in North-South Expressway crash, driver seriously injured

HULU SELANGOR: A woman was killed and a man seriously injured after the car they were in skidded off the road and crashed into a roadside guardrail at KM434.6 of the North-South Expressway (Southbound), near Sungai Buaya, this morning.

District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said the police received a report about the accident involving a Proton Wira at 8.25am.

"Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle was traveling southbound when it lost control and collided with the guardrail," he said.

The 56-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment, while the female passenger, whose identity is still being verified, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Ahmad Faizal added that the woman's remains were taken to Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital for a post-mortem.

"Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about it is urged to contact the nearest police station. The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
