KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, described the current situation facing the Islamic world and the ummah as one of the most difficult and challenging moments in history.
He made the statement in his speech at the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as shared on his official Facebook page.
"However, there are still ongoing efforts to find a resolution to the violence, destruction, and suffering being inflicted on the Palestinian people.
"Israel does not belong to the ranks of civilized nations, and its barbarity demands swift and firm action to protect not only the Middle East but the entire global order," he said.
Anwar said Israel had crossed the limit— beyond reason, beyond humanity—and is blatantly committing genocide against the Palestinian people.
"This aggression leaves us with no choice but to call for immediate and effective action by the international community, including sanctions, suspension, and even expulsion. They have now targeted the very lifeline of Palestinian survival by attacking the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
"The international community must act swiftly and decisively. As an immediate step, they must urge and build consensus to suspend or even expel Israel from the United Nations (UN)", he added.
"This is not only for the sake of the Palestinian people, but also for the sake of universal humanity. We must hold Israel accountable for its repeated violations of international law and norms," he said.
The cycle of brutality had already spread to several countries, including Lebanon and Iran, he added.
"If the world turns a blind eye now, this violence will not remain confined. It will surely escalate and threaten this region and the entire world.
Anwar said that it was crucial to intensify efforts to help rebuild Gaza from the ruins and implement this plan without delay.
"We must stand united, not only as Muslims but also as fellow human beings, committed to the truth for a world that is more peaceful and better for our children and future generations," he added.
