GOF seizes 10 goats bundled inside a four-wheel drive

PASIR MAS: Smugglers continue to bring Thai livestock into Kelantan via the many illegal jetties along the border.

The latest incident occurred yesterday where the General Operations Force seized 10 goats weighing about 400kg at a roadblock here.

GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid said a man was also arrested in the operation.

He added a GOF personnel from the Seventh Battalion stopped a four-wheel-drive vehicle when it passed the roadblock at Banggol Kong for inspection.

"After inspecting the vehicle at about 10.30am, the GOF personnel discovered 10 goats which were hidden inside gunny sacks.

"They then detained the 29-year-old driver," he added.

He said the initial investigation showed that the goats valued at about RM10,000, had been smuggled from Thailand.

"The goats were believed for the local market," he added.

On another note, he said a youth was detained by GOF personnel for possession of more than 400 Yaba pills worth RM6,000 in Kota Baru on Friday night.

Ros Azhan said the 18-year-old was riding his motorcycle when he was stopped by GOF personnel at Kampung Peringat at about 11.30pm.

"We found the pills, which were believed to have been smuggled from Thailand, inside his sling bag," he added.
