JEMPOL: A 17-year-old student died after being involved in an accident with a four-wheel drive vehicle at Km0.5 Jalan Bahau-Rompin at about 12.15am today.
Jempol district police chief Superintendent Hoo Chang Hook said the victim and a friend were riding a Yamaha EGO motorcycle from Bahau to Rompin when the crash occurred.
He said the motorcycle was hit by a Mitsubishi Triton driven by a woman coming from the opposite direction.
"As a result of the crash, the victim suffered severe head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene while the pillion rider suffered a broken right leg.
"The 60-year-old driver of the four-wheel drive vehicle and three passengers were not injured," he said in a statement today.
The case is investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
"Anyone with information or had witnessed the incident should come forward and assist in the police investigation.
