ALOR STAR: The number of flood evacuees in Kedah increased slightly overnight, with over 7,200 people displaced across five districts, especially in Kota Setar.
As of 8am, the Kedah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported 7,206 evacuees sheltering in 42 flood relief centres (PPS), up from 7,143 recorded at 8pm yesterday.
Kota Setar remains the worst affected, with 4,168 evacuees from 1,258 families sheltering in 18 PPS, an increase from the 3,987 reported yesterday.
Kubang Pasu follows with 1,936 evacuees from 609 families in 12 PPS, while Pokok Sena has 567 evacuees from 167 families sheltered in four PPS.
Padang Terap is the fourth most affected, with 309 evacuees from 88 families in four PPS, and Sik has 226 evacuees from 63 families across four PPS.
