KOTA KINABALU: The recent statement made by Parti Warisan Vice-President Terrence Siambun regarding the selection of the next Yang di-Pertua Negeri (TYT) of Sabah reflects his personal views, a senior party official said.
Warisan Secretary-General Datuk Loretto Padua clarified that Terrence's endorsement of former Chief Justice of Malaysia Tan Sri Richard Malanjum was not the official stance of the party.
Loretto said that Warisan respects Terrence's opinion but reiterated that the party is focused on the pressing issues faced by the people of Sabah.
"Warisan has never discussed the issue of TYT selection. We trust the wisdom of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to decide what is best for Sabah and its people," he said in a statement.
Loretto said the party's commitment is to address the challenges faced by Sabahans while strengthening its grassroots connections, irrespective of ethnicity or religion.
"The problems faced by any ethnic group are the problems of the people of Sabah. Warisan is committed to resolving these issues and uniting the rakyat at all levels," he added.
