KUALA LUMPUR: The National Registration Department (JPN) has dismissed recent social media claims of a data breach or suspicious transactions within its system.
In a statement, JPN clarified that investigations found no evidence to support the allegations, adding that no such incidents had occurred within the department's system.
"We have coordinated with the National Cyber Security Agency and the police for further investigation.
"JPN remains committed to ensuring the security and integrity of Malaysian citizens' data under our care," the statement read.
It was reported yesterday that the government had refuted claims of a data breach involving MyKad information for 17 million citizens.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed that thorough checks by security agencies, including JPN, found the claims to be false.
He assured that the government guaranteed the security of MyKad data.
