KUALA LUMPUR: Telecommunication company U Mobile Sdn Bhd donated RM3 million to Dana Ihsan Madani in funds to assist flood victims.
U Mobile chief executive officer Wong Heang Tuck said the company is also providing free internet access at temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in the impacted areas, ensuring that those affected can stay connected.
The free internet service, he said, will also support aid workers in the area, enabling them to coordinate relief and rescue efforts more efficiently.
"U Mobile is committed to supporting Malaysians during this challenging time and is honoured to be able to contribute RM3 million to Dana Ihsan Madani for flood relief efforts.
"As part of the relief effort, U Mobile is also collaborating closely with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to provide free connectivity at PPS.
"This is to ensure that those affected can stay connected with their loved ones while also enhancing the efficiency of relief and rescue operations," Wong said in a statement on Dec 4.
In addition to its monetary contribution, U Mobile had previously partnered with the National Disaster Management Agency in November to support the agency's early flood warning SMS system.
