Pahang APM opens flood relief collection centre

KUANTAN: The Pahang Civil Defence Force (APM) has set up a one-stop collection centre at its headquarters on Jalan Beserah here to streamline the distribution of aid to flood evacuees in the state.

State Civil Defence Force (APM) Director Colonel Che Adam A. Rahman said that individuals, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), and private companies interested in helping flood victims can send items to the collection centre.

"To date, we have received about two tonnes worth of food supplies and other necessities to be distributed to relief shelters in flood-affected areas," he said.

The food and beverages will be distributed to flood victims and officers involved in the disaster response operations.

"Apart from dry and canned food, baby formula, mineral water, and adult nappies, this year we have also received toys to be distributed to children at the flood relief centres," he told reporters when met at the APM headquarters here today (Dec 11).

Che Adam said the agency will be responsible for repacking all donated items before they are distributed to flood victims.

"However, we are not accepting any cash or used clothing," Che Adam said.
