No dissolution for Bersatu Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM: There has been no dissolution of the Bersatu Shah Alam division as reported earlier this morning.

This is because the relevant parties considered several factors, including the support of delegates for the candidate for Bersatu Shah Alam division chief, Mohamad Fadzil Ahmad.

Mohamad Fadzil said he would continue the struggle with the support of 10 branches behind him.

"I did not announce my departure (from the party), instead, I sought the support of the delegates and asked for their opinion on whether I should step down or continue if such a situation arises.

"The delegates then gave their support for me to continue the struggle," he said at a press conference at Dewan Lavender, Section 7, here today.

Meanwhile, Bersatu Kampung Kebun Bunga chief, Mohamad Anuar Giman, said that although the division was not dissolved today, they would monitor the situation.

"Some party members have already 'given up', which is why I called for discussions to find the best way forward without acting on emotions.

"For this reason, we focused on explaining the chronology to the delegates present to open their minds.

"If the delegates decide to dissolve, then we will dissolve because we are the intermediaries (between the grassroots and the leadership)," he said.

He said that they are currently awaiting the latest information from the Bersatu central leadership.

At the press conference, more than 70 Bersatu Shah Alam division delegates were present to show their support.

Earlier, the media reported that the Bersatu Shah Alam division was expected to announce its departure from the party by its leaders and members.

Besides that, FMT also reported that a grassroots leader of Bersatu Shah Alam criticised the last-minute decision by the party to postpone the division's conference to elect a new leadership line-up for the 2025-2027 term.

Mohamad Anuar reportedly said that the cancellation letter issued by the secretary-general, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, late last night was deemed unreasonable 'with the excuse that the disciplinary board's investigation into the riot incident at the Nov 2 conference is still ongoing'.

Azmin said that the investigation, which also involved the candidates, led the Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) to decide to postpone the Bersatu Shah Alam conference today.

However, Anuar, who is also a former Bersatu Shah Alam Committee Member, claimed that the last-minute cancellation was actually made to help a certain candidate supported by a Bersatu State Assemblyman (ADUN) who was expected to lose in today's election.
