KUALA LUMPUR: KNKV Group and Media Prima Bhd have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to host the KNKV Viral Award 2025, which aims to garner 100 million views through various platforms, including a live show on TV3.
The award show will be aired live on May 17, next year bringing this prestigious event to screens all over Malaysia, as well as through strategic cooperation with more than 700 local and international influencers.
The MoU signing was witnessed by Deputy Unity Minister K. Saraswathy.
Also in attendance were KNKV Group Sdn Bhd chairman Senator Datuk Seri Dr Zurainah Musa, KNKV Group chief executive officer Adjunct Professor Adam Richman, Media Prima Group managing director Rafiq Razali, Media Prima Television Network and Primeworks Studios chief executive officer Nini Yusof, and Media Prima Omnia chief operating officer Datuk Mohd Efendi Omar.
In a statement, KNKV Group said the programme is aimed at recognising social media influencers who had been consistent in creating inspirational content on their digital platforms, while cultivating a positive creative culture.
"KNKV Viral Award 2025 with the theme 'Fostering National Unity' aims to unite the people through the recognition of influencers who spread positivity.
"The awards focus on digital content that promotes values of harmony, cooperation, and cultural diversity.
"With more than 700 local and international influencers, KNKV Viral Award will be an impactful platform to strengthen unity," the group said in a statement, adding that it would see the participation of influencers from abroad including Singapore and Indonesia.
In an era where sensational content is often prioritised to gain attention, the KNKV Viral Award comes as a platform to recognise influencers who create positive and constructive content.
They said the award aimed to educate the public that success on digital platforms could be achieved without sacrificing moral values.
There would be three main categories in the KNKV Viral Award 2025 based on the number of followers.
The categories are - macro influencers (500,000 to 1 million followers), mega influencers (more than 1 million followers), and celebrity influencers (more than 5 million followers).
The influencers must not be involved in politics, are free from controversy, and create content that carry positive and constructive messages.
"Generous prizes will be awarded to the winners to encourage more influencers to join the effort to change the culture of social media in a more constructive direction.
"With strong support from Media Prima Berhad and TV3, the KNKV Viral Award 2025 is expected to be a catalyst for this change."
Meanwhile, in her speech at the MoU signing yesterday (Monday), Saraswathy said she was confident that the KNKV Viral Award 2025 could have a huge impact in influencing social media users to instill and foster a spirit of unity among the community.
"By recognising influencers who spread positive messages, we can highlight the role of social media as a tool to unite people from various backgrounds.
"I am also confident that this initiative will encourage more social media users to utilise their platforms in a more positive way, thus strengthening national harmony," she said.
