KUALA LUMPUR: The government will not compromise on any actions or practices that clearly contradict Islamic teachings, says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Naim Mokhtar.
He said this as he advised parties not to speculate on the viral video of a group of people reciting zikir in an unusual manner at a Muslim cemetery in Setapak here.
He said the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) had been instructed to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident.
"The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) is aware of a viral video on social media showing a group of individuals gathering at a grave in the cemetery in Taman Ibukota, Setapak.
"The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) had instructed the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident.
"Those with information are encouraged to provide it to Jawi to assist in the investigation," he said.
He added that the public should leave the matter to the Islamic religious authorities.
Earlier, Wangsa Maju police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail confirmed that a report had been lodged over the video.
