KOTA TINGGI: Twenty-eight-year-old Shakirin Mohammad, who was murdered and whose body was hidden in the boot of his car at Km26 of Jalan Jemaluang-Kahang yesterday, was laid to rest at Kampung Felda Pasak Muslim cemetery tonight.
According to Buletin TV3, The funeral took place around 8pm, attended by more than 50 family members, relatives, and friends who came to pay their last respects.
Before that, the funeral prayer was held at Masjid Jamek Felda Pasak after Maghrib prayers. The remains were brought from Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) in Johor Bahru after the post-mortem process was completed.
Shakirin, a widower without children, was a native of Felda Pasak and lived with his parents.
Mersing district police chief, Superintendent Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani, said in a statement today that Shakirin was found fully clothed, with injuries to his neck. Initial police investigations revealed that the motive for the murder was revenge due to the victim's relationship with the suspect's ex-wife.
A local man and a woman, both aged between 33 and 35, were arrested at 4.30am yesterday to assist with the investigation. Both suspects are currently under a seven-day remand, starting today, for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
