Fahmi Reza released after arrest over Sabah governor caricature

KUALA LUMPUR: Activist and graphic designer Fahmi Reza has been released on police bail after being arrested for allegedly belittling Sabah Governor, Tun Musa Aman, with a caricature.

Sinar Harian reported that Penampang district police chief, Superintendent Sammy Newton, confirmed that Fahmi was released yesterday (Dec 31).

"He was released on police bail at 5.30pm and returned to Kuala Lumpur last night," he was quoted as saying.

Yesterday, Sabah police commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun confirmed the arrest. Jauteh said the investigation into Fahmi, whose real name is Mohd Fahmi Reza Mohd Zarin, is ongoing under the Sedition Act 1948.

Prior to his arrest, Fahmi said he had been contacted by the police and was on his way to Sabah to give a statement regarding the poster related to Musa that he had uploaded on Facebook.
