KOTA KINABALU: Police are tracking down activist and graphic designer Fahmi Reza after receiving more than 30 reports over a caricature that allegedly insulted Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman.
Sabah police chief Datuk Jauteh Dikun said an investigation paper had been opened against Fahmi.
"We are looking for him to hold him accountable for his actions, and the police will ensure the investigation into this case continues," he said at a press conference on the Sabah Anti-Corruption Peace Assembly at the Sabah police headquarters today.
Jauteh said Fahmi was believed to be still in the state and might attend the assembly organised by Suara Mahasiswa Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in front of Menara Kinabalu tomorrow evening.
He said Fahmi was wanted for investigation under the Sedition Act and warned that action would be taken if he attended the assembly.
"So, others should not be influenced by his provocations, as it has been made clear that he is wanted under the Act," he said.
Jauteh said Fahmi was being investigated for allegedly belittling Musa as the new governor through a satirical poster that he designed.
