SEPANG: The recent commotion involving Palestinian nationals at Wisma Transit Kuala Lumpur (WTKL) will be addressed in this Wednesday's cabinet meeting.
Unity government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that the cabinet had already been briefed on the situation involving the Palestinian nationals at the transit centre, and the upcoming meeting would focus on the next steps following the incident.
"This week's meeting will definitely include updates from the Defence Minister. During the previous cabinet session, the possibility of relocating to a new premises was raised," he said.
While no decision has been communicated to the cabinet yet, Fahmi expressed confidence that updates would be shared with the public and media after Wednesday's meeting.
Previously, the Armed Forces confirmed an incident in which a group of Palestinian nationals set fire to objects on a road at WTKL.
The unrest reportedly stemmed from their request for expedited processing of applications to return to Palestine.
A viral video of the incident highlighted the tension, which echoes a similar disturbance in October when a Palestinian woman caused a scene and damaged public property at WTKL before later issuing an apology.
The woman was part of a group of 127 Palestinian civilians who arrived in Malaysia on Aug 16 for medical treatment following Israel's attack on Gaza.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced at the Palestine Solidarity Assembly in Bukit Jalil on Aug 4 that Malaysia would offer medical assistance to injured Palestinian civilians.
The injured were transported by two Royal Malaysian Air Force Airbus A-400M aircraft from Egypt to the RMAF Subang Air Base.
