KOTA KINABALU: GRS Women chief Datuk Seri Azizah Dun has expressed concerns over Parti Warisan's recent proposal to collaborate with certain parties within Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
Warisan information chief Datuk Azis Jamman recently said their desire to work with Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star), but not with other components of GRS.
"If you really want to cooperate, then cooperate with everyone. But if you speak like that, it shows that you're trying to cause division. That's all, you're trying to split us," she told the media after the Institute For Development Studies (IDS) Sabah New Year's assembly at Wisma IDS here.
Azizah emphasised the importance of unity within GRS, suggesting that selective collaboration could lead to division. "If you want to cooperate, then cooperate with the entire GRS, if that's what you truly want," she added.
Azis said that Warisan president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal was open to cooperating with local parties like PBS and Star, but not with GRS or its leading party, Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS).
He added that Shafie's recent remarks had been misinterpreted and taken out of context. He clarified that the president's proposal was for collaboration with local parties such as PBS, Star, and other local entities within GRS that demonstrate integrity and courage, without needing to defer to leaders in Putrajaya.
Azis added that the focus should be on strengthening Sabah-based parties ahead of the upcoming state elections, drawing inspiration from Sarawak's approach to political leadership.
He reiterated Warisan's commitment to integrity, good governance, and combating corruption and abuse of power. He also claimed that partnering with parties tainted by integrity and corruption issues would erode public trust in state leadership.
