MUAR: Police were dispatched to Jalan Majidi near here to defuse mounting tensions between a pedestrian and a convoy of parked motorcyclists, for obstructing the pavement yesterday.
District police chief assistant commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said in the 10.15am incident yesterday, initial investigations revealed that the motorcyclists on high-powered machines had parked their bikes on the pedestrian walkway.
However, when they were asked to move their vehicles, one of the motorcyclists was alleged to have provoked an individual.
Rais Mukhlis said the alleged provocation prompted the individual to call the district police headquarters' hotline and traffic officers were dispatched to the scene to defuse control the situation before it escalated into a threatening situation.
Three motorcyclists were slapped with summonses for obstruction.
Raiz Mukhliz said although the situation was diffused without any untoward incidents, yet two footage of yesterday's incident were circulated today on social media platforms.
He said the 101-second and a 92-second footages, could portray a negative perception and invite people to make speculations.
It is learnt that the individual who called the police, is believed to be a restaurant operator. He had asked the motorcyclist to park elsewhere, as his bike was blocking the pathway to his shop but the request turned into a heated argument.
The motorcyclist was seen in the footage laughing mockingly and saying he hoped that the shop owner would go bankrupt soon.
