KUALA LUMPUR: The injured cat called Oyen Elmina that found near the Elmina plane crash site on Aug 17, died yesterday.
A Facebook post by Zul Erwan Veterinary Clinic said the cat tested positive for Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).
"It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Oyen Elmina has died today. Oyen tested positive for FIV, disrupting its immune system.
"Complications of the wounds in the spine made the infection spread faster. Oyen began to weaken and treatment was given as best as possible.
"Unfortunately, Oyen could not make it. Thank you to everyone who prayed for Oyen," read the post.
Previously, veterinarian Dr Zul Erwan Azmi shared an update on Oyen Elmina, including a visit from the ambulance crew members that went above and beyond to save the cat's lives.
In the afternoon of Aug 17, a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) crashed near Elmina, Shah Alam, during its final approach into Subang Airport.
The incident had claimed the lives of 10 people, with eight onboard the aircraft while the remaining were a car driver and a motorcyclist.
