KUANTAN: A dramatic video has surfaced showing a six-foot-long monitor lizard putting up a fierce fight against Civil Defence Department personnel during a capture operation at a house in Taman Sri Belat here on July 1.
The video, posted by Ainal Marhaton on her social media account, quickly went viral.
It shows at least five civil defence personnel struggling to subdue the enormous lizard, which had wandered into a house compound.
The lizard fiercely resisted capture, even after its head was ensnared with a catch pole.
Despite the personnel's efforts, the lizard flexed its body and performed somersaults in an attempt to break free.
Two female personnel were also attacked while trying to pin down its tail.
The lizard turned and bit the safety boot of one of the women, causing her to fall.
She managed to free herself and helped cover the lizard's eyes before carrying it into a metal cage.
One of the personnel commented that the operation felt like capturing a crocodile due to the lizard's size.
The video garnered numerous comments, with one user, Rianiayu, remarking on the lizard's size and questioning if it could grow larger.
Another user, Wasabi, asked about the lizard's fate now that it has been caged.
Some even joked about its potential value if sold in Sarawak.
