KUALA LUMPUR: A video of an aircraft making a safe landing amid severe crosswinds at Langkawi International Airport has been making waves on social media.
The now-viral Facebook post by user Langkawi Kini features a 29-second video showing a Boeing 737 approaching the runway at an angle, battling strong crosswinds.
Despite the challenging conditions, the pilot expertly manoeuvres the plane, executing a safe and smooth landing.
"An incident in Langkawi during the storm earlier. Kudos to the pilot. Rarely do we get to see this. Imagine how the passengers must have felt inside.
"Steady and congratulations to the Captain for a 10/10 landing, Alhamdulillah," read the caption.
The impressive feat has left viewers in awe, with many praising the pilot's exceptional skills in the comments section.
"This is what I heard earlier during the strong storm. Alhamdulillah, they landed safely. My husband also said the pilot is amazing," said user Fazilah Ahmad.
"That's it, a crosswind landing. The pilot is awesome," commented Mawar D Abd Karim.
Some users shared similar experiences of landing in crosswinds, recalling their fear.
"I experienced a storm like this when flying from Penang to Subang. The pilot could not land often because the weather was so bad, and the flight kept going up and down, circling who knows where.
"You could feel the storm with many passengers crying and vomiting at that time. Only God knew," said Umi Harmi Yati Shahrudin.
Aini Jurugambar also shared, "We went through the same experience. As we were about to land in Langkawi, the plane suddenly ascended again and circled multiple times. Once the conditions improved, we landed safely. The pilot did an excellent job."
