KUALA LUMPUR: A recent video of a theft that occurred on a flight from Malaysia to Vietnam has gone viral.
The video, posted by lfg.travel on Instagram, showed flight attendants helping to retrieve the passengers' stolen money from an overhead compartment inside the plane.
The scenario was narrated by a man who warned people not to leave their money, credit cards or anything important in the overhead compartment on their flight.
"Guys, do not leave money, credit cards or anything important in the overhead compartment on your flight.
"We were sitting in the second row when we saw a man from the back come up to our area twice, taking down the bag from the front row compartment and bringing it back after a while.
"Later, three front row passengers found out that their cash and credit cards had been stolen.
"We found a partial amount of the money wrapped in socks thrown into deep parts of the compartment," he said in the video.
He also said once the flight landed, they caught the same man trying to sneak out of the plane but he was caught.
"We were taken to the interrogation room at the airport in Saigon, where we gave a witness statement report," he added.
He said it was later revealed that the suspect was part of a group of four who always took one-day transit flights around the world, stealing people's money every day
Meanwhile, netizens also warned people in the comments section.
"Always keep your cash, phone and passport on your person. Laptop under seat in front of you. I'm an ex flight attendant. People do steal on flights," said a user.
"Passport, phone and wallet should always be with you," said Cassafront.
"Always put your luggage in the cabin opposite your seat, not directly above your seat. I. This way, you can observe who is accessing your luggage," said Rascaltan.
