KUALA LUMPUR: A video of a group of boys recklessly riding modified bicycles, known as 'basikal lajak' and dangerously overtaking other vehicles in the middle of the road has gone viral, sparking outrage from netizens.
The video posted by alfatehmahmed9 on TikTok shows the boys riding the modified bicycles, speeding together.
The person who posted the video expressed his surprise as he captured them and captioned the video, "modified bicycle causes trouble again."
One of the boys overtook a car that turned onto the road without stopping and he then moved to the side to catch up with the other boys.
The video prompted many comments from TikTok users who expressed their concern and disappointment.
@shafiehassan124 said racing recklessly shouldn't be taken lightly.
"Don't ignore the danger. Hopefully, the authorities can resolve the issue of modified bicycles," he said.
@Xcalibur said action is needed considering the potential accidents that could occur.
"Please, if you see this happening, help prevent it. Report it to the police. If an accident occurs, what can we do then," said xcalibur.
@Dil Kumar said the support from parents is causing dangerous trends.
"These days, even parents are buying modified bicycles for their children. In Batu Pahat, Johor, more kids are riding their bicycles between cars," he said.
@Adam Asiqbeauty similarly said parents were not monitoring their children.
"I don't understand why the parents aren't supervising their kids," he said.
