KUALA LUMPUR: The sight of a Perodua Axia car driving on a tyreless rim across the Penang bridge has ignited a wave of reactions from netizens.
In a Facebook post shared by Penang Press, a video shows a car speeding by without a rear tyre, causing it to lean to one side and create friction.
The incident was captured from another car's dashboard camera at a distance from behind.
"I don't know what the driver's problem is. Still driving even without the tyre. This happened yesterday (July 16) on the first bridge," Penang Press captioned the post.
The post garnered over 58,000 views and 606 likes.
In the comments section, user Maliana Nazari jested that being clever in some situations might pay off.
"In these times when everything is expensive, be a smart consumer. If you don't have a tyre, use the rim as long as you can still drive," she said.
Meanwhile, user Nor As pleaded for people not to endanger others.
User Putri Shahidatul said: "Concept: As long as it can be used, we use it. Hmm."
Another user, Saya Aman, joked that the driver could just be testing out the sport rims on the car.
"He's currently testing out those sports rims," he said.
On a more serious note, user Sham Becca said that many face hidden struggles.
"Sometimes we don't know what someone is going through. For example, recently I didn't have a car when my father was admitted to the hospital. I had to use an old motorcycle that seemed like it could break down any day.
"Thank God I made it to the hospital in time. We never truly know the struggles others are facing," said the user.
